Coming to London

A guide to booking your accommodation, travelling to London, information about London and arrival at the venue

Accommodation options

We have made reservations at several venues in the area of Bloomsbury for PCF5 delegates which are close to the conference venue. Delegates are asked to book their rooms directly with the venue of their choice and details on how to do this are given for each option.
We have reserved different types of rooms (single, twins and triple), either en‐suite or with shared facilities, at different price ranges. The venues include hotels, hostels and University of London halls of residence. Each venue has agreed to reserve a number of rooms for PCF5 delegates until a set date ‐ please take this into consideration when planning your booking. When contacting a venue to book a room, please mention that you are a PCF5 delegate in order to be allocated one of the reserved rooms and to receive the correct room rate. Full details are listed in the accommodation guide [PDF 171KB] (opens in a new window). We have compiled an online map which shows some of the accommodation options as well as the main conference venue and other relevant sites, including nearby railway stations.

Information about London

London is a dynamic hub, and a diverse cultural metropolis, holding a unique position in the Commonwealth, Europe and the world. It is an ideal venue for an international conference of this type. Bloomsbury is a centre of arts, education and medicine, within easy reach of the main tourist and cultural attractions of the city.

The following websites might be a useful starting point:

While in London, whether you decide to stay at one of the accommodation venues within walking distance from the conference venue or not, you may wish to travel and do some sightseeing. Bloomsbury is an ideal area to be in London as it is in the centre of the Museum Mile, many open green spaces and, of course, home to the British Museum.

Bloomsbury also boasts a great number of eateries which offer international cuisine at affordable prices. For your convenience, we have compiled a map with cafés and restaurants near the conference venue.

If you have any questions that we have not answered, please contact the organisers directly on pcf5@london.ac.uk.
